INTERN DIARIES

In 2014, Candice Brew held a Marketing & Events internship at ALIVE magazine in St. Louis, MO where she discovered the ample detail, time and patience that goes into major event planning. She learned how to organize and simplify guest, blogger and sponsored gift lists down to a T and she gained a knack for event floor planning in the process.

Not only did Brew gain valuable career insight during her summer at ALIVE, but she submerged herself in the artsy, contemporary audience and cultural scene that the magazine represented.

While at ALIVE, Brew helped plan and work 3 major, highly attended events: Hot List STL (an annual party celebrating St. Louis' top restaurants, shops, hangouts, etc.), ULTRA (the official St. Louis Pride afterparty) and Handmade Happy Hour: Summer in the City (a pop-up shop event with local vendors).

Brew had always dreamed of moving to New York City and launching her career in the fashion industry. In May of 2015, her dream came true.

During the summer of 2015, Brew was the Marketing and PR intern at The Hive Showroom in NYC. Brew was the lone intern for the company, so her responsibilities and tasks ranged from managing the sample closet to assisting buyers during appointments.

Brew spent a little more than two months at The Hive, but she learned and experienced what some might experience in a year.

Brew is excited to share that she will be interning at FleishmanHillard—one of the world's largest PR agencies—starting in September 2016.
